Privacy and Security Policy

Your privacy and security are critically important to us. This privacy policy describes how HiringThing collects and uses the personal information you provide on our web site and online service. At HiringThing we have a few fundamental principles:

  • We don’t ask you for personal information unless we truly need it. (We can’t stand services that ask you for things like your gender or income level for no apparent reason.)
  • We don’t share your personal information with anyone except to comply with the law, develop our products, or protect our rights.
  • We don’t store personal information on our servers unless required for the on-going operation of one of our services.

Website Visitors

Like most website operators, HiringThing collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. HiringThing’s purpose in collecting nonpersonally identifying information is to better understand how HiringThing’s visitors use its website. From time to time, HiringThing may release nonpersonally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its website.

HiringThing also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. HiringThing does not use such information to identify its visitors, however, and does not disclose such information, other than under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personallyidentifying information, as described below.

Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information

Certain visitors to HiringThing’s websites choose to interact with HiringThing in ways that require HiringThing to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that HiringThing gathers depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, we may ask visitors who sign up for the job listing service at to provide a username and email address and other information. Those who engage in transactions with HiringThing – by purchasing access to premium services, for example – may be asked to provide additional information, including as necessary the personal and financial information (such as credit card number and billing zip code) required to process those transactions. In each case, HiringThing collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with HiringThing. Aggregated Statistics

HiringThing may collect statistics about the behavior of visitors to its websites. For instance, HiringThing may monitor the most popular job listing sites on the service, or republish job listings on HiringThing branded portals. HiringThing may display this information publicly or provide it to others. However, HiringThing does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below.

Protection of Certain Personally-Identifying Information

HiringThing discloses potentially personally-identifying information only to those of its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations that (i) need to know that information in order to process it on HiringThing’s behalf or to provide services available at HiringThing’s websites, and (ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others. HiringThing will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone. Other than to its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations, as described above, HiringThing discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only when required to do so by law, or when HiringThing believes in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of HiringThing, third parties or the public at large. If you are a registered user of a HiringThing website and have supplied your email address, HiringThing may occasionally send you an email to tell you about new features, solicit your feedback, or just keep you up to date with what’s going on with HiringThing and our products. Information Related to Data Collected on the Behalf of our Clients:

  • HiringThing collects information under the direction of its Clients, and has no direct relationship with the individuals whose personal data it processes
  • We collect information for our Clients, if you are a customer of one of our Clients and would no longer like to be contacted by one of our Clients that use our service, please contact the Client that you interact with directly.   • HiringThing may transfer personal information to companies that help us provide our service. Transfers to subsequent third parties are covered by the provisions in this Policy regarding notice and choice and the service agreements with our Clients.
  • HiringThing has no direct relationship with the individuals whose personal data it processes. An individual who seeks access, or who seeks to correct, amend, or delete inaccurate data should direct his query to the HiringThing’s Client (the data controller). If the Client requests HiringThing to remove the data, we will respond to their request within 30 days.
  • HiringThing will retain personal data we process on behalf of our Clients for as long as needed to provide services to our Client. HiringThing will retain and use this personal information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.


A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. HiringThing uses cookies to help HiringThing identify and track visitors, their usage of HiringThing website, and their website access preferences. HiringThing visitors who do not wish to have cookies placed on their computers should set their browsers to refuse cookies before using HiringThing’s websites, with the drawback that certain features of HiringThing’s websites may not function properly without the aid of cookies.

The use of cookies by our partners is not covered by our privacy policy. We do not have access or control over these cookies. Our partners use both session ID and persistent cookies to facilitate our advertising programs.

Our third party partners employ clear gifs (a.k.a. Web Beacons/Web Bugs), images, and scripts that help them better manage content on our site. We do not tie the information gathered to our Customers’ or Users’ personally-identifying information.

Security Technology and Practices

HiringThing always transmits and stores personal information securely. This prevents potential hackers from “tapping” a data conversation. Your login credentials are encrypted with strong encryption using the Advanced Encryption Standard. The data security standards we have in place include auditing, logging, backups, and safe-guarding data. Our servers are housed in datacenters that are ISO27001 certified, the highest and most current standard for managing systems and data securely. All datacenter facilities are protected by professional security staff utilizing video surveillance, intrusion detection systems and other electronic means. Authorized staff must pass two-factor authentication a minimum of two times to access data center floors.

Social Media Widgets

Our Web site includes Social Media Features, such as the Facebook and Twitter buttons or interactive mini-programs that run on our site. These Features may collect your IP address, which page you are visiting on our site, and may set a cookie to enable the Feature to function properly. Social Media Features and Widgets are either hosted by a third party or hosted directly on our Site. Your interactions with these Features are governed by the privacy policy of the company providing it.

Blog / Forum

Our Web site offers publicly accessible blogs or community forums. You should be aware that any information you provide in these areas may be read, collected, and used by others who access them. If you choose to use our referral service to tell a friend about our site, we will ask you for your friend’s name and email address. HiringThing stores this information for the sole purpose of sending this one-time email and tracking the success of our referral program.
