The Biggest Opportunity We Saw at HR Tech 2026: Hiring Is Wide Open

Written by Joanna Campa | November 2, 2026

We spent three days at HR Tech 2026 talking with our fellow vendors. We left with one clear takeaway: these teams are rightly focused on their core systems, and many don't realize how easy it is to add hiring alongside them. That's a big opportunity hiding in plain sight.

Summary

  • Hiring is an easy add: Many HR Tech 2026 vendors hadn’t considered adding an ATS, but with a white label partner they can offer hiring under their own brand in weeks without losing focus on their core product.
  • Hiring starts the employee record: As buyers push to consolidate vendors and connect their data, built-in hiring lets information flow from application to first paycheck and makes the platform where customers start.
  • AI has changed how candidates apply: 80% of job seekers now use AI in their search, so reach and a modern application experience matter more, and HiringThing’s LinkedIn, Indeed and interviewing partnerships provide both from day one.
  • Platforms get a partner network: Embedding HiringThing connects a platform to job boards, screening providers and interviewing tools that already work well together.

The question that started the best conversations

On the show floor, we asked almost everyone the same thing: has your platform thought about adding an applicant tracking system?

For many vendors, the answer was "not yet," and for a good reason. They're focused on doing their core system well. Payroll, scheduling, benefits and learning are hard problems, and hiring looked like a separate product that would pull the team off course.

What many hadn't realized is how little it takes. Adding ATS capabilities doesn't mean building a recruiting product or changing focus. With a white label partner, hiring runs inside your platform under your brand, and your team keeps building what it does best.

Why hiring is the natural next step

The theme of HR Tech 2026 was From Change to Transformation, and much of the week centered on consolidation and connected data. Buyers want fewer vendors, and AI works best when the whole employee record lives in one place.

Hiring is where that record begins. Every employee your platform pays, schedules, enrolls or trains was a candidate first. When hiring lives inside your product, the data flows from application to onboarding to first paycheck without re-keying, and your platform becomes the place customers start, not just a stop along the way.

And because a partner runs and maintains the hiring engine, adding it can take weeks, not a year-long build, without pulling your team away from the core product your customers chose you for.

AI is changing how candidates find and apply

AI has reshaped the candidate side of hiring remarkably fast. In Clutch's State of AI Hiring in 2026 survey of 590 U.S. job seekers, 80% said they use AI in their job search and 86% said it lets them apply to more jobs each week. Candidates now use AI to find openings, polish their resumes and even sit for AI-led interviews.

That shift ran through our sourcing conversations all week. When applying takes seconds, the value moves to the start of the process: putting jobs in front of the right candidates on the networks where they search, and giving them an application experience as modern as the tools they used to find it.

The good news for HR platforms is that none of this has to be built from scratch. HiringThing is a Silver partner in both LinkedIn's Preferred Partner Program and Indeed's ATS partner program, so platforms that embed us give customers that reach on day one. Partners like Jobma and HireKo bring video and AI interviewing into the same workflow.

You won't be building it alone

Our favorite moments of the week came from time with our partners. The integration partners whose tools run inside HiringThing and the white label partners who offer hiring under their own brand brought generous, collaborative energy to every conversation.

The best surprise was connecting partners with each other. It was a reminder that hiring isn't a single product. It's an ecosystem of job boards, screening providers and interviewing tools that work better together.

That's what an HR platform gets when it embeds HiringThing: not just an ATS, but a network of partners already working side by side.
